Alvarez: ‘I Knew His Only Shot Was to Land That Big Overhand Right’
Lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez had a tougher time than most expected while defending his title for the first time Saturday night at Bellator 39. It took him 25 minutes with a game but cautious Pat Curran to ensure his belt would find its way back around his waist. Alvarez caught up with Sherdog.com’s Greg Savage after the bout and discussed his strategy and his frustration in not being able to finish off his outmatched foe. Alvarez also touches on where he stands now as the promotion’s marquee fighter and one, if not the, top fighter competing outside of the Zuffa umbrella.
